ABU DHABI, 16th May, 2018 (WAM) -- Emirates Foundation has launched ‘Al Dunia B’Khair’ Ramadan campaign, a nationwide initiative, powered by its Takatof programme with the core purpose of promoting a culture of volunteerism during the Holy Month of Ramadan, and empowering Emirati Youth to engage in compelling opportunities for community support and development across the nation.
Supported by the foundation’s partners, the campaign will engage over 1500 Takatof volunteers from across the UAE with a target of achieving 10,000 volunteer hours. The Takatof volunteers will distribute over 100,000 ‘Al Dunia B’Khair’ Ramadan packages to families and communities across the nation. Volunteers will support families and public and private sector organisations by delivering the packages to landmark locations within their communities like mosques, community centres and labour camps.
Maytha Al Habsi, CEO at Emirates Foundation, said, "‘Al Dunia B’Khair’ campaign is a true reflection of the vision set forth by our Founding Father, the late Sheikh Zayed Bin Sultan Al Nahyan and we launch it today in his honor with the aim to open up new horizons and opportunities for everyone within the nation to proactively share and give during this holy month."
"Our main goal behind launching Al Dunia B’Khair’ campaign is to create a mechanism that will act as the glue that binds society together and will offer compelling opportunities to individual, families and communities to make a collective and meaningful contribution during the holy month of Ramadan. Our target of 100,000 delivered home meals will be in honour of 100 years since the birth of our founding father," she added.
Since 2007, the Takatof programme has organised Ramadan campaigns in an effort to instill a sense of civic engagement and responsibility amongst youth and provide its volunteers with the opportunity to support community needs while developing their personal and leadership skills in the process.
Inspired by His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, Takatof fosters a culture of volunteering throughout the UAE.
Launched in 2007, it offers the nation’s youth meaningful opportunities to volunteer for important social causes and encourages engagement in public service. Takatof members are ambassadors of the culture of volunteering and they represent the culture of social solidarity, support and giving and embody the noble values of the Emirati people.
